If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Nara, Japan, make sure to take a delightful detour to the second-floor haven known as Apa Apa Café. Nestled within a modest building on Tsubaicho, this cozy café is an oasis of tranquility where good food and warm hospitality await you.

Apa Apa Café is not just another stop on your travels; it is a sensory experience. As you ascend to the second floor, you are greeted by a creatively decorated ambiance that captures a quaint yet vibrant spirit. The atmosphere is accented by soft music that plays in the background, setting the perfect tone for relaxation after a day of exploring Nara Park.

The menu offers a delightful array of fresh, handmade food. While specific menu items are not listed, guests have praised the daily specials and consistent favorites. Imagine sinking your teeth into a beautifully presented dish, bursting with flavors that reflect the local ingredients and culinary traditions. According to customers like Martin Pietschmann, the café owner embodies true hospitality, ensuring every aspect, from food to service, is done right.

Reviewers sing praises about the friendly staff, making everyone feel right at home. Kevin Maschke aptly describes the atmosphere as “SO NICE,” emphasizing that it’s an ideal spot to unwind and recharge. If you’re looking for something sweet to cap off your meal, Jorge Parodi notes that their dessert selection is equally charming, positioning Apa Apa Café as the perfect spot for a post-dinner treat.

While some guests, such as Agnieszka Lata, remarked on the somewhat smaller portion sizes for the cakes, this has not deterred visitors from appreciating the quality and creativity of what is on offer. The intimate setting means that at peak times, seating can be limited, so consider timing your visit wisely to secure a cozy spot.

If you’re in Nara, make it a point to experience the enchanting atmosphere and scrumptious offerings at Apa Apa Café. You’ll leave with more than just a satisfied palate; you’ll take with you the warmth of a local gem, making your visit to Nara even more memorable.

This gorgeous place owned and run by a very nice owner has does everything right. Located in the 2nd floor of a small, unconscious building, with a nice view at a busy side street of Nara. Enjoy fresh and handmade food in a very friendly environment, while listening to music silently playing in the background.

We spent a rainy afternoon there. Cosy and creative decor, nice staff. Only the cake's size a bit too small.

After a day walking around Nara Park, we wanted a nice quiet place to rest before heading to the station. I came across Apa Apa Café on Google Maps and we decided to go. And it was SO NICE! It's quiet, relaxing, and has a special atmosphere. The staff was super super nice and friendly and the food and drinks were superb. I'm definitely going back next time I'm in the area

A cozy cafe on the second floor of a building. They have an English menu and I believe the staff can speak some English as well. They offer a daily special as well as a permanent menu. It is a very small space so depending on how busy it is you may not be able to be seated.

Awesome place to rest after visiting Nara Park. The cafe is actually on 2 fl. The stairs to get up there are on the parallel Street.

This gem is hidden on the second floor, where you get by taking spiral stairs up. We had bagels with a yoghurt set (salmon and bacon) and both were delicious with salad and unique sauce. The walnut berry cake is so good! The hosts are very welcoming, smiling and accommodating. It is a pleasure to be here and enjoy delicious food in a pleasant atmosphere. Feels very cozy and homelike. I bet at night it looks even better:) I absolutely recommend checking this place out!
